How should I light my aquarium?
I found a light tank that has 3 switches, one for white light, one for blue and one for the night light led. Should I be running the blue and white together or run at different times. And if they run at the time why I can not buy a cheap blooming double light strip and replace one of the white bulbs with a blue light bulb?
The way mine is running the blue (actinic) is set to enter 1 hour before the white (daylight) and then the white and blue stay togather stays blue then an hour after the white off. My actinic are in 10 hours and 8 hours a day. The actinic be targeted when the go off and goes off when turned on. This is to some extent imitate sunrise and sunset. This helps to prevent the fish is startled when the lights and gives them time to get to places that hide the night when the power off completely. Operation both at the same sepctram time creates a more natural color light running alone the light of day as this tends to give everything a yellow hue. Also the blue light waves penetrate deeper in the tank than others. Are you running florecents florecents compact or just regular. If you are running florecents compact group made much more light per watt of a blooming regular is the diffrence on the support he has and a strip of double cheap. Also make sure you have the bulbs in the correct positions in the fixture. The bulbs extinguished daylight much more heat than actinics and if they are to be in positions Certina then the cooling fans in general, only lights up when the position of the light bulbs turned on.
