What would be your ideal set-up for a freshwater aquarium 150 liters?
I saw this great looking aquarium 150 gallons to PetSmart yesterday and I was thinking how nice it would be in my house. I wonder of all, what would your ideal setup. I know everything that was put in it. From fish the decorative elements, air pumps, heaters, filters, lighting, gravel, sand. EVERYTHING! Note that it would be a freshwater tank. I would like to incorporate their ideas if you gave them. Thanks to all who answer!
My ideal set for a big tank like that is a well planted tank full of small colorful fish. I would like to include a variety of tetras and cardinals, lemons, Congos, ghosts, black, red ghosts, and rummynose. Add to that some other colorful fish such as barbs gold around the bottom and 3-4 species of killifish to swim the upper tank. I would also like caves and 2-3 species of Apistogramma to the background layer and, of course, a small school of cory catfish for cleaning equipment. Another good addition would be a few Oto cats, just for interest and a little cleaning algae along plants are harmless. would use a nice dark brown natural colored gravel. The fish and plants seem to be really against it and it looks, well, natural. Add a few stones for the construction of the cave and pieces of driftwood and the decoration is complete. Hardware manufacturers will depend on what was available locally, but I would give adequate heating of 5 watts per gallon (750 watts for the tank) using 3-4 heaters distributed along the back of the tank. Filtration still hanging achieved with power filters and 2 at least 4 would be the way I go. Some of the tubes collection would be higher in the tank and some low to encourage good circulation throughout the tank. Since it is a deep tank, I would like metal halide use lighting to "pierce" the quantity and quality of light at the bottom of the tank. That's what I would do and, in fact, just last week to 135. I can say that it looks good and will look great in a few months when the plants grow a bit more and the fish in full color. Good luck with the tank, you have tons of great options! MM
