The addition of seltzer water to the aquarium a good way to lower the pH and carbonate hardness decrease?
I struggled with my tank to try to decrease the pH. The reason I want it so bad is that I like to keep Blue Rams and the Rams of Bolivia as a lower pH and relatively soft water. I met with an online article that mentions the addition of mineral water to the tank to lower the pH when it forms carbonic acid. This makes sense to me, but does anyone has experience with this technique? I'm using a 50/50 mixture of Sera Super Peat (Blackwater granular filter) and carbon and ammonia Marineland Neutralizing Filter Media Mix Tetra in a wet / dry filter. I recently added some pieces of wood some parts slowly after immersion. Last check my KH was 8 and my pH of 7.4. Only began to use a water softener pillow. Should I leave everything and start keeping African cichlids, if that is not enough?
PH PH is what will be. Most fish live in a range from 6.5 to 8. There are natural ways without adding mineral water drift of forests and peatlands in the filter are the best way and will not gradually with surprising speed your fish .. Do not believe everything you read online. Anyone can have a website. Keep driftwood that will work. His sheep will be fine at 7.4. Just because you've read somewhere that a lower pH does not mean you can not live in a higher. Give time pH fall.
