Saltwater aquarium lighting?
Nova is a current extreme x4 good lighting structure for a FOWLR setup and maybe in the future marine aquarium? How to make out the dim lights and so does not scare the fish? Finally, what would be required to give the water a deep blue at night? Thank you. yeah sorry, meant the future of reef aquarium marine aquarium instead of in the future.
The current Nova Extreme is a good light. It is a T-5 fluorescent, which is more or less the current state of the art aquarium lighting (LED Ultrabright are perhaps the new state of the art, but are much more expensive than T-5 (so far)). This lighting would be good for a FOWLR system, which is in fact a marine aquarium, so the second part of your question confuses me. You mean a coral reef aquarium in the future? If so, the extreme Nova should also be good for most reef systems, despite certain reef organisms might need an even brighter light. The device apparently includes Nova Extreme Blue "moonlights" which are the means of production "of deep blue night." If you buy a device without these, however, the "moon lights" can be added separately. To lower the lights, the current extreme Nova manual advises: "If you want to automate lighting cycles that you can use a timer rotation for each power cord included wall transformer lunar dawn. Set timers for the 460 nm Actinics first turn followed by Daylights 10,000 K an hour later. Reverse the process of around 9-10 hours later. Set the timer to turn moonlight an hour before the 460 nm actinic off. This should give the optimal time of illumination. Ask your dealer to see if your specific animals require more or less light and adjust accordingly. "
