Help, I'm starting a reef aquarium and I need help with corals / anenomies / etc ..?
I am a first time reef tank owner. I have an aquarium of 55 gallons of salt water with live sand, rock, fish, and a 260w fixture Jeboo 65w 12000K comprised of two days and two light bulbs with 65W Antinic 4 led light blue moon. My first question is what corals / anenomies / etc .. I have and what they need to survive eg types of light or other food. What are HARDY and cool looking too. My question is how should I configure my second lighting timers. What are the specific times each should be on. I have three blocks and three timers. My last question is Do I need another tank products such as protein skimmers, etc. .. and what used. Thanks for all your help.
Wow. This question is way invovled in Yahoo Answers. Let me answer then sugegst some resources better. 1) What For corals – we will come back later to midwife this 2) lighting timers. I would in daylight for 10 hours, 30 minutes can actinic before and stay on 60 minutes later. The light of the moon can come in 45 minted after the lights turn off days (15 before the actinic exit) and stay for 4-6 hours, all out. 3) YES. You need a protein skimmer. This is the most important part of a reef system. Remove organic and protein dissolved in water. Without your corals die from pollution of the water quality. You also need a pump for water flow. Many corals as and increasing water inputs. I suggest a WaveMaker as well for this. 1) revisited. Your tank is not yet ready for corals. You have no skimmer, and the current no. Even resistant corals need. As fresh and resistant species, which is subjectie. The polyps are ahrdy zooanthids. I think they are cool. By the way, you can not keep stony corals at this time. But help is easy. 1) With respect to coral aquarium by Eric Borneman. You should buy as soon as possible. It is the reference in the maintenance of corals in captivity. 2) Regarding http://www.reefcentral.org http://www.reefs.org and there you will find tons of good advice and have a more direct access to information reef.
