diy c02 injection. I found the perfect link for what I need I thought it was Plantgeek.net?
This will be my first go c02 injection. I am very excited about it, I searched around, but he thought any specific information that sounded as if they knew what they were talking. So here I am! How much of each do I need to make my boot? I'm assuming I'm going to use silicone on both sides of a bottle cap of 2 liters to fill the hole with a tube through it, air stone placed inside the aquarium, along with other end of the pipe and check valve in place to keep the gas going in the direction correct. My tank is 29 gal just need a 2 bottle of one liter .. filled?? Any experienced professionals out there?
I would use 2x 2 bottles L for good measure … The whole idea of DIY CO2 reactor is not as big … you have no control over time, pressure, quantity, or anything else really and after about a week, you'll see the amount of CO2 drop drastically. If you use two bottles, you can replace a week, giving a fairly constant flow CO2 (and much less effective than other, more expensive methods). When I DIY reactors, I used the recipe found here: http://www.fishlesscycling.com/articles/co2_discussion.html "Take a 2L Coke bottle rinsing, filling two thirds of the way with warm water and add two cups of sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Add 1 teaspoon baker's or brewer's yeast. Remove the lid, and drill a hole in it that is slightly smaller than the width of some airline tubing. Airlines Cutting at an angle to create a point and pull the tip through the hole in the lid with pliers. And viola, there is no need to seal the hole with silicone! Put the lid on bottle, and you have a CO2 reactor. "This worked so well as you can expect something made from a soda bottle for the job, and a replacement for the week, made a noticeable difference.
