How I can stay calm in the summer aquarium?

I have a 30 gallon tank with a filter wheel-type nominal Bio 50 g. I live on the fourth floor of my apartment building and the aquarium sits on the floor. I can take care of a large orange Orada a Black Moor. I want to reduce my heating bill, so I'm trying not run the air conditioner whenever possible. The problem is that when outside temperatures in the 80's and 90's (I live in Minneapolis, MN) temperature Room. but lower than the outside temperature is still high. I have two of these tag type thermometers in the tank and I saw the temperature range from 70-84 degrees. I would like the tank to be in the low to mid 70s. Any ideas on how I can keep the temperature even in these hot days of summer?? I follow the light hood all day and now I have a small fan blowing over the surface of the water to cool by evaporation. My other idea is just to get some reusable ice packs, put them in a ziplock bag and float 1 or 2 in the water. Thanks !!!!!!

You can try using ziplocks of ice to cool the tank, but usually results in a roller coaster ride of temperature which may be worse in the fish that the temperature is too high. 84F is not too hot to fish for a short period, as usually. Unless you are seeing more signs of distress, I would not worry about allowing only the tank temperature to move naturally. I realize the mid-70s are often given as the preferred range of temperautre for your fish, but the mid-80s do not hurt either. MM
