Aquarium Lighting
Will I be able to grow plants with standard aquarium lighting?
There seems to be plenty of conflicting opinion on the web, so I was wondering about the experiences of people on here….
I bought my BF a standard 10 gallon aquarium starter kit that comes with a 15 watt flourescent bulb….
I also bought a java moss, a melon sword and anubias to go in there…..
Do you guys think thats enough light?
Would I be able to upgrade the bulb if its not?
Lemme know whatcha think….

I have a similar tank and all three types of plants do well, though a better bulb will certainly not hurt. Make certain and pick up a pair of midget suckermouth catfish – otocinclus affinis as they do a superb job with algae and will not “overcrowd” the tank. Just remember to work through the day/night cycle (usually I do 14/10) but you will notice how the plants are acting and should adjust accordingly. Hope it goes well
