my aquarium shop guy said not to bother replacing the carbon in my filter?
he said dont even bother with it, it doesnt do anything.
I said “I think the makers of Juwel know what they’re doing” he disagrees, says no point replacing it.

There is controversy about using carbon in a filter. I have kept fish for over 40 years and I have used it to help out when I had to leave on vacation or a trip and I knew I would not be changing the water soon. I use Bio filters. Sponge, foam and the Bio-Wheel. I use peat in one filter to get the PH I need to breed Discus and Angels. If you are doing proper maintenance then you do not need carbon. If you have a large population then use ammonia removing media. Gravel vacuuming and proper filter cleaning every month will be all you need to do. Save your money. Ask some other tropical fish shop owners and see what they say. Ask several, not just one or two.
