how do i clean the decors in my aquarium?
.. i have plastic plants, a fiberglass castle and gravel.. do i need to make all of those algae-free? i’m afraid i’ll be also getting rid of good bacteria. my aquarium is only 2months old.
1. DONT GET A PLECO!
2. Sorry, I just dont know why everyone says that to beginners nonono dont ever get one unless you have like 100 gallon aquarium or something big.
3. If you want to get rid of algae try getting like 5-6 Otocinclus Catfish they get 1.5″….. UNLIKE PLECOS who can get to a FOOT YES 12 inches sometimes bigger.
4. If you decide that you really want to clean it (which means you have a lot of algae–otherwise….go with the otos) if you really want to just do the things that have a lot of algae on them.
5. Dont clean out your whole tank though as this will start to recycle and could kill the fish you have in there now.
6. Oh- You DONT have to make them algae free but otos wouldnt hurt ;]
Tips:
7. Algae growth happens because of sunlight or light coming in.
8. So if you have a light only turn it on when you are looking at it or in the room it is in. Otherwise turn it off so nothing excess will grow. If sunlight hits it put some blinds up or something to block the light until it is gone and then you can open it again.
9. Dont ever drain out all the water from your aquarium…dont ever take everything out of the aquarium only nessicary.
